Look-up/Reference data sets

Is there a way to use a lookup/reference data set, where when one field is populated it will look-up information for several other fields from a reference data set? An example would be a database of dog physical check-ups. Each new record would have a dog's ID number name, owner, address, and then all of the physical examination information. You might have many dogs in this one database. If the same dog comes in for a second appointment you don't want to re-enter all of the constant information like name, owner and address. Re-entering all of this data can lead to inconsistencies making a query very difficult. You would want to enter just the ID and then have those fields automatically populated. Of course you should be able to edit this auto-populated data in case the owner moved or something else changed. It would require a separate data set linked by the Dog ID number. Is DoForms developing this kind of look-up reference utility? I know I can do it with Microsoft Access, but there I lack the awesome ability to send my forms to mobile devices and there aren't many people who know how to use Access.
